Pictures!

President Kennedy once said that he could imagine staying in this spot forever, looking at this vantage point over Washington DC. With his grave sight just below, he rests with his wife and two infant children, the oldest being two days. The Eternal Flame burns and all over DC you can look up to Arlington to see this.

March for Life down Constitution Avenue, view from the Honeywell building. They kept coming and coming, all for the walk of life!

Me and General Lee. Just like home with the portrait!

Who is that in the background?

Look at that, President Bill Clinton stopped by to speak with us.
9/11 Memorial outside of the Pentagon. They reflect the path of the plane's collusion with the building, and victims that were in the plane have names etched on benches facing the building, whereas victims inside face away. Each bench is aligned in a way to reflect the birth year, a very gorgeous testament to the Americans that lost their lives in DC that day.

Thomas Jefferson- the man himself.

HEY, HEY, ARE YOU OKAY? All Program Assistants are CPR Certified. YOU GET THE AED, YOU CALL 911!

Working hard in our Student Services Office. Note the headboard, without a bed. We do function out of a hotel.

Our Nation's Capital, gearing up for the biggest Inauguration in history, note the flags and chairs.

Finally in DC

After a glorious holiday and VT rocking the Orange Bowl, I am in Washington DC. I live on Georgetown's campus and am a Program Assistant (PA) for Presidential Classroom. I have 11 co-PA's, and there are 3 regular staff members that are here, as well as 3 others at headquarters. Presidential Classroom is a not-for-profit organization that hosts leadership programs for high schoolers, based on civic action and greater understanding of the interworkings of foriegn and national policy.
The weeks are long and jammed full of activities. I tell everyone I work an average 25-hour day, and the program functions in a way that you wake-up working and do not stop working until you lay your head down to rest that night. It is pretty intense, but my skills are growing professionally and I would not change a thing about where I am right now!

During our training week, I had the opportunity to experience some of the sights as well as learn about our history here in the United States. Our first program, Inaugural 2009, was huge filling the entire hotel to capacity, and attending the inauguration. Although we did not all have tickets, the entire group went to the Inauguration. I persoanlly passed out on the bus, and ended up meeting my parents and spent the day with them, it could not have been better. But the true highlight of my Inauguration week was introducing our guest speakers, Dr. Frank Luntz and Richard Schiff of The West Wing, as well as having President Bill Clinton come speak to our group.
More pictures to come!
Amazing things happening in DC, vicariously CLB!
